These Guilty Dogs Were Caught In The Act

Animals | 2/26/20

Dogs are generally very good boys and girls, but sometimes they just can't help ripping open the side of that garbage bag or tearing up your favorite shoe. They really want to be good, but garbage is oh so enticing.

Dogs are also really bad at maintaining a strong poker face. When pups do something wrong, you can see it all over their faces. We searched the internet for some of the funniest "caught in the act" moments that dogs have to offer. Keep reading for some epic cuteness.

Fighting Like Cats And Dogs

This pug just can't seem to leave his little brother alone. He knows that he's not supposed to chase the cat. He knows he's not supposed to torment the cat. The problem is, when the car dashes around the room, he just can't help it. It's wired into his DNA.

The cat looks like he's over this little game, though. His face says it all. He's like, "you can get off me now. I just want to take a cat nap."

A Mountain Of Fluff

This dog wasn't content with just lying on those fluffy pillows. He had to see what was inside them. He just had to know what was making them so fluffy. This dog completely got caught in the act, but even if his owners didn't walk in on him literally covered in feathers, they would have known he was the culprit. Who else would have the nerve to destroy a perfectly good pillow?

He either destroyed a pillow or finally caught that pesky bird who snuck its way into the house.

A Missing Muffin

You know what, I am actually very impressed that this dog had the will power to eat just one muffin. If you left me alone with a tin of freshly-baked muffins, I would have eaten at least two or three.

The irony here is that the dog was going to get a muffin anyways. But now that he has shown the inability to be patient, he won't be getting another one. He probably won't be getting one ever again. This is what happens when you grab instead of asking politely.

Surrounded By Evidence

There's no denying that this little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel ripped this magazine to shreds. Let's just hope it was junk mail. She knows she got caught in the act and she's not even going to try to defend herself. She's just going to flash those adorable puppy dog eyes and hope we forgive her.

She's not even trying to hide the evidence. There is literally a trail of evidence leading directly to her. What a mess!

A Mess Upstairs

We know what that face means. This German Shepherd really doesn't want you to walk up those stairs. She's torn a full toilet paper roll to shreds in the master bathroom. She knew it wasn't right, but the paper was just lying on the floor and she has a problem, ok!

In the end, it's all kind of adorable in its own "bad dog" type of way. I mean, look at those eyes! You can't stay mad at this dog forever.

A New Kind Of Cone

You've seen dogs sporting those plastic cones right after they've had surgery or had a few stitches put in, but you've never seen a cone quite like this one. Obviously, this dog got into the garbage can. He also wasn't able to get out of the garbage can— at least, not completely.

He knows he's about to be scolded, and he's ready to accept his punishment. Was it worth it, pup? Did you enjoy licking the last bits of cream cheese off of the bottom of that empty cream cheese container?

Just Peeking In

While this Pug's owner was in the bathroom, the dog got up to something naughty. We're not sure what it is, but by the look on that dog's face, it can't be anything good. He isn't going to wait for his owner to come find him or his mess, though.

He's going to face the situation head on, and by "head on" he's going to try to stop his owner from walking into whatever room the mess is in.

He Got Hungry

This little Boston Terrier puppy was clearly very hungry. He couldn't wait for his owner to come to the kitchen and feed him so he took it upon himself to tear open his food bag and spread kibble all over the kitchen floor.

This is why you should always keep the dog treats and dog food behind locked doors. Dogs have sharp teeth that can be used to rip through even the toughest of bags.

Hitching A Ride

Ok, how did this even happen? We're not totally convinced that these dogs weren't set up by their owner. That Jack Russel Terrier has very short legs. There's no way he hopped up on his brother all by himself. Still, it's kind of impressive that he's able to hold that pose long enough for a picture to be taken.

How can you not laugh when you see a dog riding another dog? It's just too cute!

Taking A Break From Destroying Things

This pup had a long hard day destroying a roll of toilet paper, so now she's going to take a break and lay on the floor for a little bit. She's not even going to try to hide the evidence. She knows what she did. In a way, she's sort of proud of herself.

Sometimes just accepting fate is the only thing a dog can do. She looks like she wants to sink into the hardwood.

Pure Guilt

A dog's face can very easily give away their guilt. It doesn't help when they are standing directly in front of the mess they just created. But admit it, you stay mad for about 10 seconds and then you have to laugh at the situation standing before you.

This pupper knows what he did, but he's not about to admit it! That's the classic, "wasn't me!" look. Unfortunately, he's not selling it very well and clearly, "did it."

Surrounded By Chaos

This adorable dog may look guilty but notice how he didn't bother to leave the scene of the wreckage he "may" have created. He just stares back at you with those adorable puppy eyes and allows evolution to take care of making us feel sorry for them.

Maybe this dog's owner needed to buy new furniture anyways. You can be mad at this dog, or you can thank him for speeding up the process of buying new things.

Who Did It?

The dog in the background has no problem ratting out his buddy. There is just not a lot of hiding the emotions of dogs. Now comes the real question — who was actually guilty of this mess? At least one of these dogs at least looks more guilty.

This is usually what happens with brothers. The one in the back did nothing, but he did encourage his brother to make a mess. It's not his fault his brother listened!

Pinning The Cat In A Corner

"I wasn't going to eat the cat, I just wanted to see if I could catch them!" There is a very real chance that this cat was attempting to set up the dog to take a fall for no reason at all. Sneaky little cats!

That cat isn't as innocent as it looks. It was probably the one doing something wrong, but you're blaming the dog anyway. The dog knows it, but there's nothing he can do it about it.

Caught In The Act

Yet another example of a dog being caught in the act and allowing their startled emotions to shine through. They even have the evidence right in front of them so there is no hiding from what they have done.

The thing is, this doggo probably knew he was going to get in trouble, but tearing up the bag and everything inside was just too tempting! Now he just has to find a way to live with the consequences.

How Did This Even Happen?

This dog looks like they genuinely didn't mean to get caught in the blinds. Regardless of their intent, they are now caught in the act and unable to deny what they have done. Furniture 1, dog zero.

The worst part about this is it looks like it happened in the middle of the night. The dog's owner probably thought someone was breaking into the house. Honestly, seeing it was just the dog was probably a relief!

A Deflated Soccer Ball

Body hunched over, ears back and big wide eyes fully open? This is a tell-tale sign of doggy guilt. But how can you possibly be mad at this adorable little cutie? He just wanted to play a little soccer.

Time to buy a dog proof ball and head to the park. Get this good boi enough exercise and he'll fall asleep instead of destroying your athletic equipment. The choice is yours!

Goodbye Coffee

It looks like this dog managed to break open a giant sack of coffee beans. If that's the case their owner was probably in for a very long night of hyper-puppy time.

What's worse, is now that pupper is caffeinated up, there's nothing left to keep its owner awake. It's going to be a long sleepless night. By the morning this pup will be fast asleep and its owner will be struggling to function at work.

Spot The Difference

The dog on the right is really guilty. Okay maybe not, perhaps they just really don't like having their photo taken or maybe it's a genetic condition. Either way it's super silly and that makes us happy.

The dog on the right definitely is guilty of something. You don't know what he did yet, but you will soon. Just maybe don't go into your closet for a while, that would be recommended.

A Sandwich Stealer

It looks like someone isn't going to be enjoying the lunch they made — but it won't be this dog. This is what happens when a dog realizes they can reach the countertop and help themselves to a delicious snack.

Sandwiches are a universal food, so you can't be too mad at this good boi. Plus, it doesn't look like a very exciting sammie anyways. Treat yourself to something nicer, you've earned it.

Something Broke

When your dog realizes they broke something and then they bring it over to where your sitting it's really hard to be overly mad at them. At least they quickly understood the error of their ways right?

What did he break anyways? We can't figure out what it is. It's not a hangar or a handle. Whatever it was, it hopefully wasn't too important to his owner. It doesn't look very useful, anyway.

Nose To The Ground

Dog gets into trouble, dog attempts to smell whatever they got into, dog gets busted. This is exactly why we love our four-legged friends so much. This guy is an adorable bundle of joy.

He got into the powdered sugar and he couldn't be happier! He doesn't care if you want to be mad at him. He's living his best life. And now you know you need to hide the sugar better, or put it on a higher shelf at least.

They Both Look Guilty

When you get in big trouble for something or you think trouble is coming your way, team up with a partner for a double dose of doggy guilt. These two work together really well and it's totally adorable.

Dogs get into a lot of trouble but darn us if it's not nearly impossible to look into their big puppy eyes and almost immediately forgive them. How long are you really going to be able to stay mad at these cuties?

How A Dog Reads A Magazine

Here's a dog who was enjoying a quiet evening to himself, eating magazines while his humans were out to dinner. When they came home, he looked like he knew he shouldn't have shredded all of that paper.

Good thing he's cute and will most likely get away with this one punishment-free. What's important is that you read all the best articles before he ate them. It's really your fault for not throwing them away quickly enough.

No More Pizza

This restless pup needed to take out some energy. Lo and behold, two pizza boxes sat on top of the garbage can, just waiting to be recycled. This dog clearly got ahold of both, and had a happy 20 minutes shredding them before someone took notice. He looks like he's sorry about it.

He also might have been trying to send a message about eating pizza and not sharing. He loves cheese just as much as you!

Stay Away From Skunks

Well, he's gotten punishment enough for poking his nose where it doesn't belong. This dog was a little too curious about the skunk roaming the neighborhood and got what was coming to him. Skunks are not friends, pal.

There is nothing worse than when your pet gets skunked, just remember that as bad as it for you, it's even worse for the dog. The smell lingers, and he can't get away from it.

The Truth Is Plain As Day

Although he's caught with the trash can around his neck, he swears he was framed. "Dig through the baby's diaper bin? I wouldn't. Not me." That's what his face says, but clearly, this dog is as guilty as they come.

Let's just hope he didn't find anything he deemed worthy of eating. There is nothing, we repeat NOTHING worthy of eating in the baby's diaper bin. Just gross things that need to be disposed of more quickly.

That's Not Cute

This pup was caught red handed -err, or something like that. Here he sits next to his pride and joy: a creative line of pee all the way down the hallway. He doesn't seem to realize he did something naughty, but let's hope he's still being house broken and this doesn't happen all of the time!

With this pup's age, we guarantee he'll learn to be better. The bathroom is outside, not the hallways.

A Huge Mess

This dog was caught too late in the crime for the owner to prevent a huge mess. But here she is, looking rather casual and comfortable. While humans might find old food and rubbish strewn about the house disgusting, this dog seems to prefer it this way. Sorry, not sorry.

And don't even think about trying to clean up, this how you live now. Any attempts to throw things away will be met with resistance.

Now Nobody Can Play Video Games

Everyone has their vices, even dogs. This dog has a nasty habbit of chewing power cords. Judging by the way he dragged it under the bed and went at it, chewing through the cord while hiding shows that this is not his first time.

Cords are dangerous for animals, but this pup doesn't seem to care. He knows it will be replaced and a new one will be waiting for him soon.

Goodbye Wine

Unfortunately for this dog's owners, it appears that he got into their wine stash, grabbed a bottle and tossed it on the concrete. Somehow he didn't get any of the delicious red wine on his fur coat. He might have gotten away with the crime, but it looks like he forgot to leave the scene quickly enough.

With any luck, he didn't destroy any expensive bottles of wine. Let's be honest, he totally did, though.

A Toilet Paper Lover

What is it with animals and babies? Why do they want to mess with toilet paper so much? Clearly, this wasn't the first time that this adorable Weimaraner destroyed the roll of toilet paper.

There must be something about the softness and how it can shred into a million little pieces that capture their attention. No one wants to live in a world where the bathroom door needs to be closed at all times, but it might be necessary in this case.

A Diaper Eater

Oh my, this dog had quite the day. Not only did they lock themselves in the bathroom, but they went on a rampage while they were in there, before destroying the door to get out.

This owner has a lot of clean-up to do, but seeing that they first decided to take a photo of the dog caught in the act, they still have their sense of humor in tact.

Yoda Needs Stitches

This lab wasn't patient enough to hear Yoda's wisdom before he tore his fluffy guts out. Yoda looks like he might have been the dog's toy, but it would be sad if it were a kid's! He doesn't appear apologetic at all. Poor Yoda.

It's not fun to realize your pup prefers the dark side of the force to the light side of the force. Good always triumphs over evil unless you're a Yoda doll, apparently.

My Dog Ate My Diploma

This is a very, very bad dog. No doubt this woman was waiting and excited to receive her master's degree soon. But, when her shining piece of accomplishment arrived in the mail, the dog got to it first. This dog really needs to be trained not to mess with the mail!

Most dogs need to be trained not to mess with the mail. What is it about dogs and mail, anyway?

One Shoe Is Enough

This dog can seriously destroy a shoe! He didn't just nibble at the toe, or slobber it up a bit, he managed to rip the entire shoe off it's outsole. I'd have to say, we're not even mad, we're impressed.

A Hungover Pup

Oh man. This boxer got into the chocolate alcohol bottles, a double no-no for dogs to have, got a little tipsy and puked everywhere. You usually have to watch out teenagers or inexperienced drinkers for this time of scenario, but this dog decided to join the club as well. Let's hope she learned her lesson!

Getting Into The Garbage

This bright blue and iridescent trash bag must have been completely irresistible to this dog. As far as "trash disasters" go, this one looks pretty tame. It's mainly paper items. Regardless, the pup looks like he's feeling a little guilty about what he's done.

Give Him His Privacy

So, this dog just wanted to give himself a little bath. What on earth is wrong with that? Although there doesn't seem to be any soap or shampoo around. Hmmm.

A Little Refurbishing

Could a pup ever look as pleased with her misdeeds as this one does? She looks absolutely delighted at the fact that she destroyed what was once probably a nice place to sit. Oh well, guess that's her seat now.
