LeBron James is embracing his new lifestyle in Los Angeles, and apparently, so are his children. James described LeBron Jr. and Bryce in a recent interview as mature. So mature, in fact, that he lets them drink wine with him, despite their ages (14 and 11).
The question came up at a press conference when LeBron was asked, at his “advanced” age, how he relates to younger teammates. The king responded, “everything that they listen to these days, my 14-year-old and my 11-year-old, they watch, too.” While that’s a fair and logical answer, the next thing James revealed about his sons is sure to turn heads.
Unprompted, James continued to explain how up to date with culture his two boys are, “I got very mature 14- and 11-year-olds. My 14- and 11-year-olds drink wine. That’s how mature they are.” He then joked, “they’ll be driving next week, too.” Of course, the questioning of LeBron’s parenting didn’t stop there. Once he opened the can of worms there was nowhere else to go.
The next reporter asked LeBron what kind of wine the kids drink. He explained they drink whatever “dad’s and mom’s having.” He then made sure to deflect any blame to himself, realizing he was beginning to dig a hole of questionable size. For LeBron’s next trick he will attempt to turn the Lakers from a sobering experience to a social one again. Will you be watching?
