The Witcher Adds Seven New Cast Members To Beef Up Season Two
As it gears up to begin filming its second season, The Witcher is beefing up its cast with seven new members. Some faces you might recognize, like Kristofer Hivju from Game of Thrones and Paul Bullion from Peaky Blinders, while others are just waiting for their big break like Thue Ersted Rasmussen from the upcoming Fast and Furious 9.
The hit show has big expectations for its second season. Shortly after Netflix released season one it became the most talked about series in the world. Even with less than stellar reviews from critics, viewers flocked to Netflix in droves to take in the Henry Cavill led series.
Cavill will be returning in the lead role of Geralt of Rivia for the second season, as will Freya Allan as Cirir, Joey Batey as Jaskier and Anya Chalotra and Yennefer. Batey, of course, earned a cult following for the song his character wrote about Cavill's Witcher.
Speaking on the new additions set to join the cast, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissich said, "The reaction to season one of The Witcher set a high bar for adding new talent for the second season. Sophie Holland and her casting team have once again found the very best people to embody these characters, and in the hands of these accomplished directors, we're excited to see these new stories come to life."
