Being an NBA referee isn’t as easy as you might think. Players in peak athletic shape are running up and down the court for 48 minutes. You have to be observant of everything. Make a bad call, and the fans immediately start to boo you. Sometimes the players will get in your face. And after the game, players and coaches speak spitefully in postgame interviews if they didn’t like your officiating. Yep, being a referee is hard.
